This is a patch dating from the 1970's & is a variation of the Squadron patch. This version has the Giants head breaking into the top scroll of the patch, & is made on cheesecloth backed material, & is very fragile.
Partly embroidered on twill with a merrowed edge with the Giant in Dexter.

This is an older ARRS patch when the unit operated HC-130's-130's & HH-53's operating from Eglin AFB, Florida during the 1970's. The patch in the picture above is worn by a crewman during the recovery of the 918 bodies during the Jonestown mass suicide by a cult organisation in Georgetown, Guyana.
Embroidered on twill with a merrowed edge with the giant in Dexter.

This originally looks like a 41st ARRS patch that has had the number un-picked & been re-embroidered in the top scroll with the 55th. No other patches have from the 55th have the BUFF embroidered on them, so this is what a crewman must have had made in a local hobby/tailor shop. Why they couldn't have just had BUFF embroidered on the patch rather than un picking the top scroll is a bit of a mystery to me.
If you have one of these patches you'd be willing to sell, trade or donate, please get in touch, I'd love to hear from you.
