  1. I was the only other FE in country. The crew was returning to Osan from Makpo, where they had been working with a submarine during the day. They were on extended downwind to accommodate landing traffic, told by tower to turn base to final, they were to low for the pattern and crashed into paradise mountain. All were killed instantly. Pilot error was the cause of the crash.
    Alex Wassuta knew where I was in the village, he got me back to base to makeup another crew. We went to the site, all that was there was a burning aircraft, no survivors. For the next 2 weeks I flew 2-3 sorties daily, investigation pilots and regular training flights to get everyone in the air. Jerry Sorrintino was my friend, he left behind a wife and 2 kids in New York City.
