A Huskie took off from Phu Cat AB to recover the crew from a downed US Army helicopter that had crashed 30km north of Phu Cat. At 300ft up from the pickup point ground fire killed Maj. Pittard. The helicopter was able to fly back to recover at Phu Cat.
