This patch was made for the unit while based at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti from 2011, operating HH-60G's. The 303rd was formed to be activated at any time at short notice & with it being a Expeditionary unit the activation dates are very difficult to verify.

Partly embroidered on twill with a merrowed edge, backed with hook & loop & the Giant in Dexter.

This patch was made by a crew in Japan c. 2016, for the Squadron based at  Djibouti as part of the CTF Horn of Africa. Crews deploy to the Squadron from all of the USAF RQS's. This version was worn by a crewman from the 56th RQS as it was made on the on base hobby shop at RAF Lakenheath.

Fully embroidered with a merrowed edge, backed with hook & loop & the Giant in Dexter.

A blurry picture, but you can still make out that this is the patch due to the dark merrowed edge & the overall colour. No other 303d patch has the dark chocolate brown edging. (USAF Photo)

This patch was made & designed for the crews from the 305th RQS for a deployment to Djibouti in 2016. The 303rd are made up from deployed crews who TDY for 90 day rotations.

This patch was acquired during 2018 & was made for the 303rd which operates in Africa. Crews that came back from Africa in September 2018 from the 41st RQS wearing this new OCP patch.

This patch was made by the maintenance crew that were deployed in 2018 with the 41st RQS deployment.  Crews from the 41st RGS designed & had this patch made for the same deployment.

This patch is from a c. Sep 2020 deployment patch that was worn by the crews from a range of ANG Squadrons including the 101st & 188th RQS. This was obtained from a FE who was assigned to the 188th RQS, & was deployed to the 303d. The 303d is an Expeditionary Rescue Squadron & can activate when needed quickly in times of need. This patch was worn at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti which is in Africa.

This patch was manufactured during 2021 by Aviation Gear & sold by Flightline Insignia. The photograph above shows it being worn by the crew that are assigned to Africa, operating the HH-60G's from Camp Simba in Kenya in 2021.

In October 2022 the 55th RQS were seen to be wearing these when they returned home from a deployment to Africa. The 303d is based at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti which is a US Naval Expeditionary base & is the home of the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA). Its the only permanently manned US base in Africa.

Pave Hawk sits on a landing pad prior to an exercise at Camp Simba, Kenya, March 24, 2021. The 303rd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron conducts training exercises day and night to maintain the ability to provide casualty evacuation, close air support, as well as personnel recovery.
