1990's
The 301st RQS was initially activated in January 1966 as the 301st ARRS at Homestead AFB. It was then redesignated as the 301st ARS in April 1990, before becoming a RQS in February 1992. It moved to Patrick AFB in January 1993 & has operated there with the HH-60G ever since. The 301st have made very few Squadron patches with the Jolly Green Giant design on them, this one was made c.2005 & was the only design used for nearly 20 years.
Partly embroidered on twill with a paper backing & a merrowed edge with the pigtail lose & the Giant in Dexter.
During Operation Iraqi Freedom three task forces were set up for CSAR, the second task force consisting of the 301st RQS, with their HH-60's. They were augmented by the 39th RQS, flying HC-130's & the 304th RQS, providing PJ's all of them operating from Kuwait.
