The 71st ARRS initially flew HC-130's & were augmented with HH-3's that came from the 5040th HS in 1975. It was activated in Mar 1970 at Elmendorf AB, Alaska & was active until 1 Jun 1991.
Partly embroidered on twill with a merrowed edge & the Giant in Dexter.

This patch has a more lime green colour and is probably from a different manufacturer dating back to the 1970 and 1980's. It can clearly seen being worn by some of the crew of Air Rescue 802, the crew that rescued 61 passengers of the cruise ship Prinsendam.
Partly embroidered on twill with a merrowed edge with the giant in Dexter.

1980's
This patch dates to the 1980's and is a larger US made patch for the Squadron.
Unusually this is fully embroidered with a merrowed edge with the Giant in Dexter.

The Squadron flew its H-3's to the Aircraft Maintenance & Regeneration Centre in 1991 prior to them inactivating.  Here a Jolly flies over Edmunton en-route to the Bone Yard.
